Legacy project archive
When a project stops, we say so.
We also archive shutdowns, bankruptcies, acquisitions and paper studies. Knowing what did not work matters as much as knowing what is live.
HyperPort
HyperloopTT / HHLA · 2019–2023
Autonomous, tube-based container-handling concept for seaport-to-inland-depot freight. Feasibility studies were completed in Brazil (Santos–São José do Rio Preto) and Hamburg, but no commercial pilot entered construction.
No active commercial deployment. Reclassified as a legacy concept; assets and know-how remain referenced by HyperloopTT’s freight portfolio.
Zeleros Hyperloop
Zeleros · 2016–2026
Valencia-based developer of a scalable hyperloop vehicle and tube system, backed by EIT InnoEnergy, ACCIONA and CAF. Prototyped a capsule and explored corridors in Spain, Germany and Southeast Asia.
Filed for voluntary insolvency in April 2026; assets redirected toward defence and energy applications.
Virgin Hyperloop One / Hyperloop One
Hyperloop One · 2014–2023
Pioneering full-scale hyperloop developer that raised over $450 million, built the 500 m DevLoop test track in Nevada and ran passenger-certification tests at 107 mph.
Ceased operations at the end of 2023; assets and test track put up for sale. Commercial projects (Saudi Arabia, India, UAE) did not proceed.
Arrivo Urban Mobility
Arrivo · 2016–2019
Hyperloop-inspired urban transit system proposing magnetic sleds in road-side tubes, with a planned first leg near Denver and a partnership with E-470.
Company shut down in 2019 after failing to secure construction funding; feasibility work was never published.
Quay Valley Test Route
HyperloopTT · 2014–2016
Planned 5-mile full-scale test route in California intended to validate HyperloopTT’s passenger and freight system.
Project stalled for political and funding reasons; no construction started. Activity later shifted to the Toulouse R&D center.
DP World – Hyperloop One Freight Programme
Virgin Hyperloop One / DP World · 2016–2022
Cargo-focused hyperloop programme exploring Jebel Ali port-to-depot feeder routes and later Indian freight corridors.
Suspended when Hyperloop One shut down; no route entered construction.
HyperloopTT Abu Dhabi Commercial Prototype
HyperloopTT / Aldar Properties · 2018–2023
Announced 10 km pilot line and a wider 150 km Abu Dhabi–Dubai passenger link. A capsule was built and tested in Toulouse, but no ground works were confirmed.
No construction started; the concept was shelved as HyperloopTT refocused on Italy.
Virgin Hyperloop Certification Center
Virgin Hyperloop One · 2020–2023
Announced 6-mile certification track and 800-acre campus in Tucker and Grant counties, West Virginia, to test passenger pods at scale.
Never broke ground; cancelled with the company’s shutdown in 2023.
Virgin Hyperloop One Saudi Arabia Test Track
Virgin Hyperloop One / Saudi Economic City Authority · 2019–2023
Announced 35 km test track at King Abdullah Economic City, later linked to NEOM discussions, intended as the longest hyperloop test facility.
No physical works started; abandoned after Virgin Hyperloop One shut down.
TransPod France Test Track
TransPod · 2018–2023
Planned 3 km test track near Limoges with a building permit announced in 2018 and offices moved from Toulouse in 2019.
No verified construction start; the project faded as TransPod focused on Alberta and supply-chain partnerships.
