Consumption depends on mass, frequency, acceleration, residual pressure, gradient and vehicle occupancy. The environmental result also changes with the electricity mix and should be reported per passenger-kilometre or tonne-kilometre.
Construction et terrain
An elevated guideway can reduce some crossings but requires foundations, steel, concrete, stations and access roads. Assessment should include construction, biodiversity, material use and the possibility of reusing the corridor.
Indicateurs à publier
Every study should disclose assumptions, system boundaries, reference year and sources. Without that information, an emissions figure cannot be compared.
- operating energy and peak power
- lifecycle emissions
- noise at stations and along the corridor
- materials, maintenance and end of life
